Townsville 12 November 2009
Sometimes cruising means waiting for the right weather before setting
out. My journey is taking me to Sydney, some 1200nm south along the
Australian east coast. At this time of the year the SE Trade winds
usually give way to more benign northerlies but we're still waiting for
these to arrive. A mate and I did head off last Thursday but strong SE
winds (from directly ahead) and an increasing forecast made a retreat to
Townsville the prudent option. It appears as though next Tuesday will
offer an opportunity. Meanwhile, there is always a job or two to be done
on board.
