Lifestyle for Sale

After a lifetime of adventures, illywhacker is looking for a new owner — someone who will appreciate the unique qualities and lifestyle she offers.
She is not a production boat. Her hull was laid down in the 1970s to Mal Fairweather's Seeker design, and she was completed in 1996 by Peter and Lyndall Aston to a single brief: a boat two people could live aboard permanently, anywhere in the world — sea-kindly, roomy and easy to maintain. Every fitting reflects the lessons of a family circumnavigation and decades of ocean cruising.
And she has proven it. From 1998 to 2003 illywhacker sailed from Australia through Japan to Kamchatka, across the Bering Sea to Alaska, down to Canada, and home across the Pacific via Hawaii, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. You can read every mile of it in the diary and the stories on this site — twenty years of honest provenance no broker's listing can match. Despite those miles she has been meticulously cared for and remains in excellent condition.

In Peter's words
I just love being on illywhacker. Everything I see on and below decks reminds me of the life I've had aboard. Lyndall and I began our cruising dream in 1977, and illywhacker has been a part of our lives since then. illywhacker is more than just a boat — she is the culmination of a lifetime of cruising, and a vessel ready for her next adventure with someone who understands the lifestyle she offers.
