17 September 2004: Hinchinbrook Island Nth Queensland
We're alone again! Illywhacker is anchored in Gayundah Creek about .5nm from the main channel. It is calm and very quiet between the mangrove-lined mud banks with the occasional plop of a jumping fish or the call of one of the many birds fossicking along the foreshore. All this is set to a backdrop of the magnificent mountains of Hinchinbrook Island, deep green tropical rainforest country - it all seems like real wilderness to us as their are no other boats around, quite different to life in the marina. This is surely what it means to live aboard. We've had no success in fishing as yet but this short cruise is intended to be easy - to test the recent refit and give ourselves some quiet time as we plan life's next phase.
